Razer launches their first ever gaming monitor, the Raptor 27

Razer is known for making all sorts of gaming peripherals and accessories but the Raptor 27 is their first foray into monitors. The Raptor 27 is a 27 inch QHD resolution IPS monitor with a flat screen and a 144Hz refresh rate. Announced at the start of the year it has been a long time coming but the wait is almost over.

The Razer Raptor 27 is something of an odd duck visually, with its wide standing foot equipped with RGB lighting LEDs and its edge to edge screen with no bezel, it is very much the sort of monitor you would expect in design terms from a gaming peripherals company, in a good way, even down to the built in cable management system in the back of the foot for HDMI, DP, USB 3.2 Gen 2, and headphone and for the way the foot flips up a whole ninety degrees for access.

Upsidaisy

The Raptor 27 boasts a high, DCI-P3, colour range and a 1000:1 contrast ratio so combined with the QHD resolution and the 144Hz refresh rate the image quality should be very high. Interestingly, coming from a gaming pedigree, there is no mention of things like crosshair overlays or custom contrast settings to aid in target visibility.

The MSRP for the Raptor 27 back when it was announced was $699.99, with the release expected any time now, we’ll have to wait and see if and by how much that figure has changed.
