Razer unveils the Basilisk gaming mice

Razer has launched their new Basilisk pair of gaming mice. The first of these is the wireless Basilisk Hyperspeed X and the second is the beefier, shinier and more expensive Basilisk Ultimate. Both are right handers with the same general casing shape and both employ Razer’s Hyperspeed wireless technology but the similarities don’t run much deeper than that, a fact reflected in the pricing, with the Basilisk Hyperspeed X costing £59.99 and the Basilisk Ultimate landing at £169.99.

The Basilisk Hyperspeed X mounts a 16000 DPI sensor with a 450 IPS tracking speed. The battery life is aimed around 450 hours in Bluetooth mode or 285 hours in the more responsive Hyperspeed mode. The mechanical switches are rated to last for 50 million clicks and there are six programmable buttons. The Basilisk Hyperspeed X goes without an RGB colour setup in order to preserve the battery life.

The Basilisk Ultimate rolls up with a 20000 DPI sensor and a 650 IPS tracking speed. The Ultimate also includes a charging station and can be used with an optional USB cable as well, so its battery life of around 100 hours is less of a concern. This allows it to mount a 14 point RGB LED lighting system because if you’re going all-in on a gaming mouse why leave anything out.

The Basilisk Ultimate has eleven programmable buttons, on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment, customisable wheel resistance and optical mouse switches rated for 70 million clicks. The Ultimate weighs in at 107g which is surprisingly low for a wireless mouse with such a comprehensive set of features under the hood.

The Razer Basilisks are available now.
